Q. 이제 평소에 본인이 어떻게 재활용을 하는지 말해주세요. 매일 재활용품을 분리하나요? 재활용품은 어디로 배출하나요? 일상생활에서 어떻게 재활용을 하고 있는지 자세히 말해주세요.
우리 집에서는 재활용품을 현관에 있는 붙박이장 안에 보관한다. 예전에 살던 집에서는 베란다에 뒀었는데, 지금은 버리기 편하도록 현관 쪽에 보관하고 있다. 안에는 세 개의 수거함을 두고 있는데, 두 개는 각각 종이와 플라스틱을 보관하는 데 사용하고, 나머지 하나에는 캔이나 유리병 같은 기타 재활용품을 넣는다.
우리 아파트의 재활용품 배출일은 월요일과 목요일이다. 정해진 날에 재활용품을 아파트 단지 내 지정된 장소에 가져다 놓으면 수거 업체에서 와서 가져간다.
결혼 전에는 내가 직접 재활용품을 내놓았지만, 결혼 후에는 주로 남편이 담당하고 있다. 그런데 재미있는 건 재활용품 수거장에 가 보면 남자들이 정말 많다는 것이다. 아마 우리 집처럼 남편이 재활용품 배출을 담당하는 집이 꽤 많은 것 같다ㅎㅎ
재활용품 배출일을 하루만 놓쳐도 집에 재활용품이 금방 쌓인다. 특히 택배를 많이 받은 주에는 종이박스가 쌓여서 현관이 금세 지저분하고 어수선해진다. 그래서 가능한 한 정해진 배출일을 놓치지 않고 꼭 재활용품을 내놓는 편이다.
Q. Now, tell me how you personally recycle. Do you sort your recyclables every day? Where do you take them? Tell me in detail how you recycle in your daily life.
At home, we keep our recyclables in a built-in cabinet by the entrance. At our old place, we used to keep them on the balcony, but now we keep them near the entrance so they’re easier to take out. We have three recycling bins in the cabinet. Two of them are for paper and plastic, and we use the other one for things like cans and glass bottles.
In our apartment complex, recycling days are Mondays and Thursdays. On those days, we take our recyclables to a designated recycling area in the complex, and a collection company comes and picks them up.
Before I got married, I used to take the recycling out myself, but after I got married, my husband mostly took over that job. The funny thing is, whenever I go to the recycling area, I see a lot of men there. I guess quite a few husbands are in charge of taking out the recycling, just like in our family.
If we miss even one recycling day, the recyclables pile up really quickly at home. This is especially true in weeks when we get a lot of packages. Cardboard boxes start piling up, and the entrance quickly gets messy and cluttered. So we try not to miss our designated recycling days and make sure to take everything out on time.
